The Great North Run 2017
This is THE half marathon of the year. It holds a very important emotional place for the both us, as Christine ran her first just a week before her mam passed away. Each year the event organisers play the hymn "Abide with me" to remember those we are running for. It's ALWAYS a tear jerker as thousands of people fall silent and struggle with their own emotions. Each year we think of Christine's mum but this year I added my Dad to my thoughts as he's very badly affected by Alzheimer's Disease.
While the GNR is the most emotional run of the year, it's also the most fun (if fit enough) and there are a large number of people running it that we have become friends with over the years. As I've done several times this year I decided to film the run to give those not fortunate enough to have participated in it to get a flavour of this remarkable event.
As ever, we hope our efforts raise awareness and importantly funds to find a cure for MND and Alzheimer's.
